Here we go again, 2000+ miles in a weekend in a 22 year old car

So what if I have gone through everything there are still "some" parts that are that old.

Many more pics and lots of nonsensical rambling from a somewhat delirious old fekker as he drives 730 miles, one way, from Florida to North Carolina to play on mountain roads.

I just hardwired my chase cam in the front, and I am using a tie down in the rear for a rear mounted camera as well. I have two PDR-100's and 3 chase lipstick cameras at my disposal and the ability to record 6 hours per PDR-100.

I am meeting up with my Porsche friends for our 4th annual Porsches on the Dragon meet this weekend. I leave Thursday morning and plan on taking a ton of pictures and lots of video.

I got my front mount finished, tweeked my Motec maps some more, and plan on tweeking again once I am on the highway to get the best gas mileage. Last trip I was getting close to 22 MPG.

Here is the new front cam mount, should make for some excellent footage.

That sounds like a kick ass trip, I remember reading about one of your earlier trips.

Nice angle with the camera. And quality.

I was going to post up a vid or 1 last night but I fell asleep with the laptop in my lap.

I am meeting with a god friend of mine, and his cherry 911, and we are going to do a early morning run on the Dragon.

I will try to get pics and videos up soon. I am having too much fun.

Only 2 issues with the FCFD.

1. Coolant buzzer went off right as I arrived in town in NC Thursday night, after 740 miles of non stop driving.

2. I could not get her to turn over once, I suspect the clutch pedal sensor is going bad. I jumped my solenoid and started it and then it started fine after that.

I was getting 20 MPG all the way up. I was doing between 80-90 the entire trip up and turned a 12 hour drive (according to google maps and my GPS) into a 10.5 hour drive.

The car ran flawlessly all the way up. I am very happy with it.

We have a bog day of driving today, 6 people showed up from Canada and all the other folks from all over the Southeast are here. I am the only Jap cer the rest are German, BMW's and Porsches. This is the old crew I ran with when I had my 911. Great bunch and friends fro life.

The crew I ran with.

Vids soon. I tangled with a CGT and M6 on I95 heading home, I think they were surprised I could hang with them.

I did not have the video gear hooked up and was pissed I did not, quite a few 70-150 blasts. It was a ton of fun.

I had an "off" on the Dragon, the worst part was it was due to inattentiveness rather than over driving. I was leading the pack and the guy behind me is older and in a 4 cyl Z3 and fell behind pretty quick. I let up and was just cruising waiting for him to catch up and put 2 tires off in the worst place possible..... I have video and will upload soon. It sucked. Thank god nothing is broken.

Some raw Video. Not one of the hottest runs I was at the back of the pack but you get an idea of the fun roads we were on.

Here are some more vids. Looking back I do not seem to be pushing hard, I think the biggest reason was because I knew I had to make a 750 mile drive home. I was not really into driving like a mad man this time for some reason.

In the spring I hit a very fun road up that way that we call The Devils Backbone. I normally turn up the wick in that road.

Here are some more vids.

This is the road to nowhere, coming back from no where, following my bud in his 944. Oh yeah, all the leaves he is kicking up, that look so cool, ended up clogging up my intercooler and making my car run hot. I stayed back from most folks once I figured that one out.

I was getting pissed at my PDR100 in this video, I placed it on the passenger seat with my camera and they proceeded to beat the hell out of one another. I knew it was doing it but I was too busy to really deal with it.

I am hard mounting the PDR100 next time so the sound will be 100x better and there will be no sliding sound.

This is a early morning run on the dragon coming from Deals Gap back to North Carolina.

At 1:50 or so in this one I put 2 tires off, I was nto happy and it sounded 100x worse than it was. No damage that I can find other than to my ego. The bitch of it all is that I was not even pushing. I was actually not paying attention because the guy behind me fell back really far really fast and I was looking for him in my rear view.

First thing I did was look at my oil pressure temp etc.. then I looked under the front then the back and saw nothing, which amazed me. I am not too proud to put this up we all make mistakes. I learned my lesson from this one.

Really cheesy / crappy montage of pics from the weekend. The brunette had a 3 series BMW and drove down from Canada to play. Her rear brake was smoking by the time we got to the dragon. She parked it and rode in the Red 911 I was chasing. She ended up hurling.

She is now addicted and plans on coming out every year. We have another member to the clan.

Kinda off subject, but is your name Jim or Bill? ...and if it's bill, why'd you choose that screen name. No peticular reason, just curious.

Its a long story. My name is Jim, the group I run with calls itself Bill.

4 years ago after our first meet, one of the guys asked on the bulliten board we frequent what do we call ourselves? He said that he was gushing to a co-worker about the great time he had and the friend asked what the name of the car club was... expecting a answer like PCA or Corvette Club of America etc... We have no real name, since this is a Porsche group it would be a given it would be the PCA but these guys are nto your typical Porsche owners, they all wrench on their own cars, and they hate the PCA and your typical Porsche owner.

One of the guys suggested "Bill", lets just call ourselves Bill, hilarity ensued and the name stuck.
