To4Z back to back and a 1.0 divided StageV Gt35R

We are going to be involved with an interesting back to back dyno on an FC soon. A Journal Bearing To4R with a HKS cast iron exhaust manifold vs a To4Z( BB to4R) turbo setup from us( tubular turbo manifold etc). Also during the back to back the custom anti-surge compressor housing is going to be tested vs a standard housing.

We've also received the first stage5 turbine(very close to a standard Gt35R's turbine) mated to a BB GT35R with a T4 1.0 split housing. Stage5 turbines have never been available from Garrett in a T4 turbine housing. The real benefit is you can now basically a Gt35R with a more rotary friendly turbine a/r( 1.0) with a divided turbine housing. The 1.06 from Garrett for the Gt35R is undivided. Precision might have done this( stage5 in a T4 turbine housing), but they have been open volute housings. Also check out the slick turbine discharge; should help with leaks, self centering, and is seamless inside.

We have been doing T4 Gt35R hybrids for a while, however they use much larger P trim turbine( about two steps up); comparison photo below. Response isn't as nice, however more ultimate power is obtainable. Both turbos are available BB or journal bearing. Looks like its going on an FC shortly too...

Its a pita making those, since the T-stat extends into it and the outlet neck has a substantially smaller I.D.

Car made 31 more rwhp vs the old setup. Old setup also had the waste-gate dumping to atmosphere. I bet if we didn't go with a reroute the gains would be in the 45+range. Final power was 450rwhp @ 18psi on stock ports. Should have the graphs shortly..

Keep up the good work 1Revvin7. Not many people are modding rotaries nowadays... I'm going to get cracking on my 20b again by the end of the month. It's all going back together and everything should be right this time. I have the frame all done for it to bolt up nice and low and all the way back against the firewall. Steering rack was modified.

I would love to have the manifold work done by your shop. I really want to pick up one of those HKS T62R turbos for the 20b. Some ask why? I say because I haven't seen a 20b with a T62r. Mad Mike has a T51R on his 20b right now making good power. I could be cheap and get a GT45, which is the same as the HKS T62R.

Man those are super expensive! I'm not sure if Tial makes a housing for the Gt45R, if so that would probably save you a good deal of money...

an interesting thread so now that you have my interest how about filling in some details so we can all learn a thing or two.

i would like to see the dyno sheets SAE, w RPM and a comparison on the boost curves.

the TO4 compressor is an awesome performer if mated to the right hot side.
